Okay, here’s my sharing about what I did today, hope you guys enjoy it.
So, I was browsing around online stores today, and I got this idea. I’ve always admired the PRADA Large Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. It’s a classic, right? But the price, whoa! That got me thinking, could I possibly remake one myself? I mean, I’ve got some free time, and I do enjoy a good DIY project. So, that’s how it all started.
First things first, I needed to understand the bag’s structure. I spent a good chunk of my morning looking at pictures of the bag online, trying to get a feel for its dimensions, the way the leather panels are stitched together, and all those little details. And the material, it’s Saffiano leather, which has this unique cross-hatch pattern. It looks pretty tough, I must say.
After that, I had to think about the tools. I already have a basic sewing kit, but for this, I figured I might need some leather needles and maybe a heavy-duty thread. And to get that Saffiano effect, I’m not even sure. Maybe some kind of embossing tool? I added those to my shopping list, for now, I need to buy them on the local shop.
Then came the tough part – finding the materials. I searched a bit, and it seems like getting genuine Saffiano leather might be a bit of a stretch for my budget. I found a few alternatives, like a similar-looking faux leather, but it just didn’t feel right. I want this to be as close to the real thing as possible. I need to go to the leather market in person to really see and feel the material.

- Get the hardware – the zipper, the logo plate, those little metal feet.
- Gotta learn how to handle leather, maybe watch some tutorials?
So, for today, that’s about as far as I got. It’s a long way to go, but I’m excited. I’ve always liked making things with my hands, and this feels like a real challenge. Plus, imagine carrying around a bag that I made myself, modeled after a luxury item like the Prada Galleria. Pretty cool, right?
I will keep you guys posted on my progress. It might take a while, and there might be some hiccups along the way, but I’m determined to see this through. Who knows, maybe I’ll end up with a pretty decent replica of the PRADA Large Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, or maybe it will be a total disaster. Either way, it’s going to be a fun ride!
