Okay, here is my sharing about remaking the YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG:
So, I’ve been eyeing this Yves Saint Laurent LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG for a while. You know, the one they call “Saint Laurent” or “YSL”, which is a fancy French brand started by some guy named Yves and his buddy back in the ’60s. This bag was kinda simple but classy, and I really wanted one. I kept thinking about it all day.
I started to search around the store, trying to find one that wouldn’t break the bank. And that’s when I saw they also offer cleaning and restoration services for these bags. That gave me an idea. Why not try to remake one myself? I mean, how hard could it be, right?
I got my hands on some good materials, spent hours watching videos and reading guides on how to work with leather. It was tough, I won’t lie. Cutting, stitching, getting the shape just right… it was a real challenge. But I was determined. Each day, I got a little better, a little closer to the design I had in my head.
One of the big things I learned was about the name change. Apparently, some new creative director came in around 2012 and changed “Yves Saint Laurent” to “Saint Laurent Paris.” And he brought in this whole new edgy look too. I tried to keep that in mind while I was working, balancing the old and the new.
There were moments I almost gave up. Times when the leather just wouldn’t cooperate, or I’d mess up a stitch and have to start over. But I kept pushing, kept visualizing that finished bag. And you know what? Slowly but surely, it started to come together.
The Final Result
- The shape was right.
- The feel was luxurious.
- It looked… well, it looked like the real deal.
I carried it around, and people actually asked me where I got it. They thought it was an original! That was the best feeling, knowing I’d made something so close to a designer piece with my own two hands.
This whole project, it wasn’t just about the bag. It was about proving to myself that I could do it. That with enough patience and effort, I could create something beautiful and high-quality. And I did. And honestly? That’s worth more than any designer label.
