Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for like, forever. But the price tag? Ouch. So, I thought, why not try to make one myself? Sounds crazy, right? But I was determined.

First things first, I needed to find good quality leather. I spent days, literally days, going around different shops, feeling every piece of leather. I really wanted something that felt like the real Saffiano leather Prada uses. It’s not easy to find, I must say. After a long search, I finally found some really good-looking leather that was close to what I was looking for.

    Gathering Everything:

  • I went and got some strong thread, the kind they use for heavy-duty stuff.
  • Bought the right needles – you need special ones for leather, you know?
  • Found some nice lining material. I wanted it to feel good on the inside, too.
  • Then came the hardware – the buckles, the little feet at the bottom, the zipper, all that jazz. I wanted gold-toned hardware because the bag should look similar to the original. I had a hard time finding the exact ones, but I found some that were pretty darn close.

I printed out pictures of the original bag, lots of them, from every angle. I measured my screen, and blew up the images to try to figure out the actual size of the bag. That was a bit of a guessing game, but I think I got pretty close.

Cutting the leather was nerve-wracking. I measured everything like ten times before making a single cut. I cut out all the pieces, the front, back, sides, bottom, the straps… It was like a giant leather puzzle. And the straps, I made one long adjustable one and two shorter handles, just like the real bag.

Then came the sewing. Oh boy, sewing leather is tough. My fingers were so sore. I started with the smaller pieces, the inside pockets, and the lining. Slowly but surely, I started putting the bigger pieces together. Sewing the sides to the bottom was the hardest part, it has to be really sturdy, you see.

After what felt like ages, all the leather pieces were sewn together. I attached the hardware. Getting those little feet on the bottom was a real struggle, but I managed.

Finally, the bag was done. It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few wonky stitches here and there. But you know what? I made it. I actually made a bag that looks surprisingly like the PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. It’s got that same classy vibe, that timeless look. It’s my very own, homemade, and honestly, I’m pretty proud of it.

I have carried my new bag with me everywhere I went since then. And I’m always ready to share my experience with friends when they ask me how I got it.
