Okay, so I’ve been wanting a Rolex Submariner for a while now, but let’s be real, those things are expensive! So I thought, why not try to make a high-quality imitation myself? I decided on the two-tone blue Submariner, it’s such a classic look.
First things first, I needed to get all the parts. This was a bit of a challenge, but I managed to find some good quality parts online. It’s important to pay attention to the details, you know? Like, the case diameter should be around 40 millimeters, that’s about 1.57 inches, just like a real one.
- I started with the case. I found a really nice stainless steel case, the right size and everything. It even had that little crown logo etched on it, just like the real deal.
- Then came the movement. This is the heart of the watch, the bit that makes it tick. I found a pretty decent automatic movement. It’s not a genuine Rolex movement, of course, but it does the job.
- Next up was the bracelet. I got a two-tone one, stainless steel and gold-plated, just like the real Submariner. You gotta make sure the middle links are gold plated, it is about 130g. I think it’s important for that authentic look.
- The dial was a bit tricky. I wanted that iconic blue color, and I managed to find a pretty close match. It even had those little luminous hour markers, just like a real Submariner.
- The bezel was another important part. I got a blue ceramic bezel, again, very close to the real thing. It even rotates, just like it’s supposed to.
Putting it all together was a real learning experience! I watched a bunch of videos online, read some forums, and basically just figured it out as I went along. It wasn’t easy, but I took my time and was super careful with each step.
Finally, after a lot of fiddling and adjusting, I had my very own high-imitation two-tone blue Submariner! It looked great, felt great, and honestly, unless you were a real expert, you probably wouldn’t even know it wasn’t the real deal.
I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, and I’m really happy with it. It keeps time pretty well, looks amazing, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. It’s definitely a conversation starter, and I’m proud to say I made it myself. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot about watches in the process. Maybe I’ll try another model next time!
