Okay, so, I wanted a Fendi Mon Tresor bucket bag, like, really wanted one. But have you seen the prices on those things? Crazy, right? So, I thought, “Why not try to make my own?” Yeah, I know, sounds ambitious, but I was feeling crafty. Plus I thought it would be a fun project.
First, I spent ages looking at pictures of the real Fendi Mon Tresor online. I mean, I studied those things like I was going to take a test on them. I wanted to get a good sense of the shape, the size, and all those little details.
Then came the fun part – choosing the material. I found this cool leather mesh fabric that I thought would look pretty close to the real deal. It wasn’t easy finding the right one, let me tell you. I went to so many fabric stores and looked at tons of options online.
Next, I had to figure out how to actually put this thing together. I’m not exactly a pro at sewing, but I’ve dabbled a bit. I found some basic bucket bag patterns online and kind of mashed them together to get the shape I wanted. It was a lot of trial and error, and let’s just say my first few attempts were… interesting. It was tough trying to mimic the iconic compact and spacious silhouette.
I decided to focus on making a mini version first, you know, to practice. Also, I’m not really into big bags anyway. The Mini Mon Tresor just seemed more practical. I think this bag was first introduced in 2018, pretty new style.
- Cutting the fabric: This was nerve-wracking! I didn’t want to mess up my nice leather mesh. I measured everything like a million times before making any cuts.
- Sewing: Oh boy, the sewing. Let’s just say my sewing machine and I had a few arguments. But I got it done eventually!
- The Drawstring: I used some leather cord I had lying around for the drawstring. I wanted it to have that same kind of luxe feel as the real bag.
- The Logo: Okay, I couldn’t exactly copy the Fendi logo, but I found a cute little charm that I thought would add a nice touch. I learned that since 2004, Fendi includes a holographic square with a serial number in their bags, maybe I should try to make one myself, lol.
After a lot of work, and a few mishaps along the way, I finally finished it! It’s definitely not perfect, and it doesn’t look exactly like the real Fendi Mon Tresor, but you know what? I’m really proud of it. I think it turned out pretty darn cute. This is going to be my protective dust bag.
It was such a fun project, and I learned a lot along the way. I’m already thinking about making another one, maybe in a different color this time. Who knows, maybe I’ll even get good enough to make one that looks just like the real thing someday! This brand has been a leading brand in luxury fashion for over 90 years, so maybe I need 90 years to practice.
