RemakePRADA Medium Prada Galleria: Where to Buy at Specialty Stores?

Okay, so I wanted to try and make one of those fancy Prada bags, the “Remake PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag”. I saw them in a specialty store the other day, and let me tell you, those things are expensive! I thought, “I can do that,” but it is much harder than it looks.

First, I went to that fancy store again just to look at the bag. I took some pictures, studied the leather, and really tried to get a good look at how it was all put together. The leather was not simple, and its texture felt really special. They call it “Saffiano”. I needed to find something similar.

  • I spent hours online looking for similar, “Saffiano” leather.
  • Then I visited some local fabric and leather stores, hoping to find leather like it.
  • I found some leather that was kind of close. It wasn’t perfect, but it was the best I could find.

The next step was the pattern. I couldn’t find any patterns for this bag, so I tried making my own, I took a bunch of measurements from the pictures I had. I sketched and sketched, and finally, I had something that looked about right. I’m no expert at drawing these things, you know, so it took a lot of trial and error.

Cutting and Sewing

Then came the hard part, cutting the leather. I was so scared of messing up! I carefully measured everything twice, then cut the pieces out with a cutter. After that, I started sewing. My old sewing machine barely worked. It took forever to sew through the thick leather. The thread kept breaking, and the needle got stuck more times than I can count. Honestly, I almost gave up a few times.

Slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape. I followed my pattern as best as I could, but I made a few mistakes along the way. Some of the seams are a little crooked, and the lining isn’t perfectly straight. My hands hurt, my back ached, and I was covered in bits of leather and thread.

The Final Touches

Finally, after many days of work, I finished the bag. I carefully attached the handles and the little Prada logo, which I bought online. I stood back and looked at my creation.

My very own “Remake” PRADA Medium Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. Now, it’s not perfect, mind you. There are a few wonky stitches here and there, and it doesn’t look exactly like the one in the store. But you know what? I made it. And that’s something. It was a heck of a lot of work, but I learned a lot along the way. Maybe I’ll try making another one someday, but for now, I’m pretty proud of this one.
