So, I finally did it. I took the plunge and got myself a CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster 38mm. I’d been eyeing this watch for a while. It’s got that classic Speedmaster look, but the 38mm size is just right for my wrist. It doesn’t look too chunky, you know?
I started by doing some digging online. I read some reviews and forum posts. It seems like people generally love this watch, I read this one guy’s review after wearing his watch for a year, and he said it is pretty good. There are, of course, a few different versions, and I was leaning towards the stainless steel model with the black dial. Some people said that it is good to buy one used one called Speedmaster Reduced, but it was discontinued.
Here’s what I learned:
- The Speedmaster is known for holding its value pretty well. This 38mm version seems to be no exception.
- There are some limited edition versions that are even more collectible, but those are way out of my price range. Maybe someday!
- There are some fakes out there. You gotta watch out for things like incorrect spacing on the subdials and dodgy markings on the bezel.
I found a few online retailers that had it in stock, but I really wanted to see it in person before pulling the trigger. So, I went down to a local watch shop that’s an authorized dealer. They had a few different Speedmasters, including the 38mm, and the sales guy let me try it on. And yep, just seeing it on my wrist, I knew this was the one.
They offered me a pretty good price, but I wanted to check if I could get a better deal somewhere else. I found a couple of online sellers that had it for a little bit cheaper. But after thinking about it, I decided to just go with the authorized dealer. I figured it was worth it for the peace of mind, knowing it was 100% authentic and that I’d have the full warranty.
As for the bracelet, I’ve heard that any Omega Boutique or authorized dealer can help with that. I’ll probably swing by one of them and see what my options are.
Making the Decision
So, yeah, that’s how I ended up with a CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster 38mm on my wrist. It wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision. I did my homework, and I’m really happy with it. It’s a solid, good-looking watch, and I think I’m gonna enjoy wearing it for a long time.
Oh, and about the new “Master Co-Axial 3861 caliber” version that’s out now. Sounds fancy, but I’m happy with my choice. Maybe I’ll upgrade someday, but for now, this is perfect.
I’m still curious about what you guys think of the current 38mm models. Do you think they’ll offer more with a classic Speedmaster design in the future? Just wondering, as I’m trying to learn more about these watches.
Anyway, that’s my story. Hope you enjoyed it!
