Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on this Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Duomètre à Quantième Lunaire watch for a while now. It’s a real beauty, but the price tag? Ouch! So, I started looking into the world of imitation watches. I know, I know, it’s a bit of a gray area, but I just wanted something that looked the part without, you know, breaking the bank.
First off, I hit up the usual spots online, just browsing around to see what’s out there. I found a bunch of sites that were selling all sorts of imitation watches, including some that looked like the Duomètre à Quantième Lunaire. I even saw the Chronograph Moon, that’s the one with the reference number Q622252J. The prices were all over the place, which made me a little nervous, to be honest.
I spent a few days reading reviews and trying to figure out which sellers were legit and which ones were probably going to send me a piece of junk. It was a bit of a headache, to be honest. Some of these sites looked super sketchy.
Then, I remembered the actual Jaeger-LeCoultre official flagship store. The Duometre had two new models out, Quantieme Lunaire (Ref. Q604848J) and Chronograph Moon (Ref. Q622252J). I figured, if I’m going to get an imitation, it might as well be of the real deal, right? So, I started focusing on finding a good replica of that specific model. They were talking about the Watches & Wonders 2024. That seemed like a good place to start since it was recent.
After a bit more digging, I found a couple of sellers that seemed a bit more trustworthy. They had better pictures, more detailed descriptions, and even some customer reviews that didn’t look totally fake.
I ended up pulling the trigger on one that looked pretty darn close to the real thing. The steel model was what I really wanted, it looked like it had the right features, and the price was something I could stomach. It wasn’t exactly cheap, but it was way less than the original. It looked like the best deal around. I think I found a safe place to buy it, too.
Now, I’m just waiting for it to arrive. Fingers crossed that it looks as good in person as it did in the pictures. I’ll keep you guys posted on how it goes!
Update: It arrived! And I gotta say, I’m pretty impressed. It’s definitely not the real deal, but it’s a darn good imitation. It’s got a good weight to it, the details are pretty spot on, and it’s actually keeping time pretty well. For the price, I’m happy with it. I finally got my hands on a good imitation! It looks classic, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it yet. I’ll keep you updated.
- It’s a good looking watch, that’s for sure.
