Want a Remake Patek Philippe 6119R-001? Here is Where to Place an Original Order for this watch

Okay, here’s my post about remaking the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119R-001:

So, I’ve been messing around with watches lately, and I got this idea to try and remake a Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119R-001. I mean, those things are crazy expensive, right? More than my mortgage, that’s for sure. So, I thought, why not see if I could put one together myself? You know, original order style.

First thing I did was look up a bunch of pictures and videos of the real deal. I wanted to see how it was built, what parts it had, all that stuff. Found some good stuff online, close-ups of the dial, the movement, the case, everything. This watch has that “Clous de Paris” thing on it, and it’s really shiny.

Then, I started hunting for parts. This was a real pain. I searched all over for stuff that looked like the real parts, you know, the hands, the markers, the case. I found some decent-looking stuff, but it definitely wasn’t easy. Found a strap that had that Calatrava Cross on it, and the Patek Philippe logo. The buckle was a little trickier, but I managed to find one with the logo and a stamp that looked about right. Even got a deployment clasp with the Calatrava Cross – felt pretty good about that.

Putting it all together was the next big step. I’m not gonna lie, it was fiddly. I mean, I’m no watchmaker, but I’ve tinkered with a few things before. I took my time, tried to be careful, and used the pictures I found as a guide. I’d say the hardest part was getting the movement in right, and then the dial. I measured the diameter of 39mm and height of 8.08mm, the same parameters as the original. It’s supposed to be water-resistant to 30m, but I haven’t tested that yet. I did get a sapphire crystal case back for it, though.

  • Sourced parts online – this was a real challenge, took a lot of digging.
  • Assembled the watch carefully – lots of small parts, took a lot of patience.
  • Compared it to the real deal – looked pretty close, I think.
  • Wore it around – felt pretty fancy, even though it’s not a real Patek.

The finished product? Well, it’s not a real Patek, obviously. But it looks pretty darn close, at least to me. And you know what? It didn’t cost me a fortune. I wore it out a couple of times, and I gotta say, it felt pretty good having it on my wrist. It’s shiny, it’s pretty, just like they say. I saw some stuff online about these watches holding their value, but I’m not planning on selling this one. It’s more of a personal project, you know?

I guess if you’re into fancy watches and you’ve got a ton of cash, then maybe a real Patek Philippe is the way to go. But if you’re like me, and you just want something that looks good and you enjoy the process of making things, then this was a pretty fun project. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and I’m pretty proud of how it turned out.

They say these Calatravas and some others, like the Nautilus and Aquanaut, are like golden eggs. But not every chicken lays golden eggs, right? So, this is my not-so-golden egg, but I like it.

I heard that this model has consistently retained or increased its value over time. It’s a good one for investment.

I guess maybe I’ll try another remake sometime. Maybe something even fancier. Who knows?
